Finished! But Oh So Much To Do!

May 10th, 2011

I’ve managed to complete seven books in seven days :/ Good job they were rather formulaic in the first place is all I can say!

So now what?

Well I thought that I would use the rest of the month to keep things up – I am working an hour a day on my books. There is a lot of typing up to be done, a lot of illustration and then the old digitizing the images and editing!

Write A Picture Book A Day

April 19th, 2011

I’m taking part in the NaPiBoWriWee challenge once again 🙂 I didn’t actually complete this challenge last year so thought I should probably start by doing that before I go mucking around with how it is organised!

I finished several days late but did get seven first drafts out of it. The idea is that you write a complete first draft of a picture book a day! Last year I mainly focused on the Hetty Peglar stories. This year I thought I would continue with The Little Books of Poetry!

I will probably make myself sick of these but Jeany is still enjoying them and the bit that slows me down is the illustrations 😉

So my plan for next week is write out some spider diagrams for the ideas I’ve already got listed plus maybe think of some more! I do after all I do need seven!

Greta Goose

Greta Goose s on the loose
In her shawl she is no fool
For she hides for us to find
Chocolate eggs – you know the kind
Spotty, strippy, dotty and spotty
Creme filled and sugar sealed
Zigzags in icing – you name in piped icing
It’s all very exciting!

Easter Fun!

Jeany Bow is a bit of a rouge but she carries two baskets
Decorated with flowers and ribbons and things
Barbara wears flashing fluffy pink bunny ears
And helps Jeany to fill both of them with chocolate eggs
Marshmallow Easter bonnets made on digestive beds
Ginger biscuits shaped like bunnies and chicks
All the treats hidden about
For Jeany’s new sister is about
So small and new – Big sis is being cool!
But mummy points out babe has no teeth
Whata too do!
Jean will just have to eat it all!
Well after she’s shared with Barbara, Nanny and FerFer too!

Springtime Sun

Springtime sun is shinning
As winters gone away
Springtime sun is shinning
Now summers on her way
Springtime sun is shinning
Silver, golden making us shout yay!
Springtime sun is shinning
On this lovely day!

A Long Cat At Easter

Tom Long the long ginger tom
Just loves to purr out his song
As we scratch him on the chin
Or turf him out for rooting in the bin

For the scraps of cake baking
And other Easter treats Mummy’s been making
He thinks they’re there for taking

My Mummy’s making an Easter bonnet
With paper flowers on it
In many rainbow hues
Clustered in ones and twos

Little blue birds hide within
Listen carefully and you hear them sing
Little twittering tweeting songs
The sort that excite a cat that’s long

But he’ll not get them
On that you can depend

(this one still needs quiet abit of work I feel!)
