Little Book of NBP – Poem 7

This poem was already written and lurking around – originally posted on Turquoise Monster.

The Baby Wocky

It was milky and the drooly babe
That did wail and wiggle in the cott
All smiley was her little face
And her gums all smooth and pink

Beware the gummy mouth my friend
The jaws that gum, the tongue that sucks
Beware the nappy; and the milky stool; and shun
The fumourous terdy leak

Take the babies feet in hand
Long time the nappy cream we sort
So cleaning we; dirty bum-bum see
As she flails her legs alot

And as in ponderous thought she looks
The squelching noise which smells of egg
Came bubbling through the terry cloth
Reeking as it came

One two, one two and throw and throw
The milky stool has leak; pah hew!
She pukes a lot and if she can
She aims it right at you

And has thall changed the baby?
Give to my arms my beamish babe
Oh squiggly wig! Bubblig! Girgley!
She giggles in her joy

It was milky and the drooly babe
That did wail and wiggle in the cott
All smiley was her little face
And her gums all smooth and pink

It’s Time to Feed the Baby

It’s time to feed the baby Again! Again it’s time to feed the baby And then? It’s time to change the baby The baby must change When ? All the time and then? It’s time to feed the baby Oh not again! It’s driving Mummy crazy But it’s ok really Cos Jeany Bow is there And has bought down some books For them all to share

Expectancy

Excitement builds in the house No one can wait for the babe to come out

But alas they all know they must And wait patiently(ish) For Mummy’s waters to bust

Jean’s not sure what that means But has her bath toys ready She’s ever so keen To meet her new friend So together they can play And then?

Drive Mummy and Daddy both insane Rougies like these will work… Together it’s plain!

Mummy’s Tummy

Jeany is worried about her Mummy She is tired and sick Throwing up – ick! ick! ick!

Instead of coffee as a treat The smell alone makes Mummy repeat And just as it’s looking bad for Mummy Jean is told ‘It’s ok there is something Special in Mummy’s tummy!’

There a little baby grows But it still has far to go

The Little Book of New Baby Poetry

June 7th, 2011

Back in January as part of a poem a day challenge I wrote ten poems about the arrival of a new baby and how it would fit in with an older sibling – this I presented to my little girl when we had our second baby. It was a home made version with room for her to decorate it herself. I’m going to put the poems all up on here over the next few weeks 🙂

Along with some of the illustrations 🙂
